		<description><![CDATA[I was also saddened as I read this article. I used to peruse the Statistical Abstract in college and occasionally include facts from it in my papers. It was very useful, painting a picture of our country in a way not done by any other publication in the same way. I imagine it was used by many other students as well as journalists, academics, and those in a wide range of careers. It is hard to believe that the cost of its production is greater than the benefit it provided to this country. It is highly doubtful that the private sector will produce anything that rivals the Statistical Abstract.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[An Illinois appellate court just ruled that Rahm Emanuel cannot be on the ballot since he has not lived in the state for a year. Mr. Emanuel says he will appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court. I believe he will appeal, since the legal argument for him (outlined in the above post) is so strong and so clearly matches the spirit, if not the exact letter, of the law.]]></description>
